Australia’s Alyssa Healy received a guard of honor from the Indian team as she stepped onto the pitch for her last 50-over match against India at the Bellerive Oval. Healy, the retiring wicketkeeper-batter, showcased a remarkable performance, scoring 158 runs off 98 balls before being dismissed by Sneh Rana in the 37th over. The BCCI Women shared images of the tribute, capturing the moment when Harmanpreet Kaur congratulated Healy on her illustrious career.
Healy, who announced her retirement earlier this year, is concluding her 16-year international journey during the ongoing series against India. With an impressive record of 489 runs in Tests, 3619 runs in ODIs, and 3054 runs in T20Is, Healy has been a stalwart of Australian cricket. In addition, she holds the record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in women’s international cricket, totaling 269 across all formats.
Having taken over the captaincy from Meg Lanning in 2023, Healy’s leadership and batting prowess have been instrumental for Australia. She ranks among the top run-scorers in women’s cricket, with 7,106 runs across formats, trailing only behind Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry in the Australian women’s team. Alyssa Healy’s retirement marks the end of an era in women’s cricket, leaving a lasting legacy on the sport.
