Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s north Kashmir area discovered ten balloons carrying a Pakistani flag near the Line of Control (LoC), prompting increased vigilance in the region. The balloons, each with a Pakistani flag, were found near Sarna Top in Baramulla district. The Army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles noticed the objects during routine patrol and seized them for further investigation.
In a separate incident, a balloon marked with Pakistan International Airlines’ logo was found on a tree in an orchard in Kupwara district. Local residents alerted security forces, leading to the retrieval of the balloon by Army personnel. Further details on these incidents are awaited.
Jammu and Kashmir’s LoC spans 740 kilometers across Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts, with additional security measures along the international border in Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts. The Army and Border Security Force (BSF) work to prevent infiltration, smuggling, and other illicit activities originating from Pakistan to fuel terrorism in the region. Security forces also target drug-related crimes and terrorist support networks within the union territory.
