The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his wishes following the party’s significant win in the general elections. The BNP looks forward to engaging positively with India to enhance their multifaceted relationship and mutual commitment to regional peace. The party emphasized its dedication to democratic values, inclusivity, and progressive development for all Bangladesh citizens.
PM Modi recently congratulated BNP chairman Tarique Rahman on the party’s success in the Bangladesh elections. He conveyed India’s support for Rahman’s efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people. The conversation highlighted the historical and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh, with PM Modi reaffirming India’s commitment to the prosperity and progress of both nations.
Following the BNP-led alliance’s victory in the elections, securing a significant number of seats, discussions between PM Modi and Tarique Rahman focused on the formation of a new government in Bangladesh. Tarique Rahman, soon to be sworn in as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, will be the first male PM in the country in nearly 35 years. He assumed leadership of the BNP after the passing of his mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, and is the son of former President Ziaur Rahman, the BNP’s founder.
