Bangladesh’s Jamaat-e-Islami has cautioned against any manipulation of citizens’ opinions and voting rights, threatening to launch a strong movement if such actions occur. Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer stated that any attempt to undermine the people’s mandate through conspiracies would lead to protests and potential tougher actions by the party. Jamaat expressed dissatisfaction with the election results process and accused the Election Commission of bias towards a major political party.
Meanwhile, Jamaat emphasized the importance of respecting people’s opinions but warned against any manipulation or plotting using citizens’ views. The party criticized the Election Commission for not disclosing voter turnout figures and raised concerns about inconsistencies in unofficial result announcements. Jamaat highlighted suspicions of bias within the administration and questioned the integrity of the election results process.
Following unofficial reports of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s victory in the 13th parliamentary elections, Jamaat expressed discontent with the outcome. The BNP-led alliance secured 210 seats, paving the way for a new government led by BNP. Tarique, the son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, is poised to lead the government, marking the return of a male Prime Minister in Bangladesh after nearly 35 years. Unofficial results from various constituencies indicated Tarique’s victory over Jamaat candidates.
