The Bengaluru Traffic Police have released traffic guidelines for New Year celebrations from December 31 evening to January 1 morning. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Karthik Reddy stated that 2,432 traffic police personnel and 400 traffic wardens will be on duty to oversee traffic and vehicular movement. Specific restrictions will be in place on popular roads like MG Road, Brigade Road, and Church Street.
Separate parking arrangements have been organized at various locations for visitors, with parking prohibited on specific roads during designated hours. The public is encouraged to utilize public transportation options such as Namma Metro, BMTC buses, and cabs instead of private vehicles. Additionally, the police have arranged pick-up and drop-off points in key areas to facilitate passenger transportation.
To ensure safety, 166 check posts will be set up across Bengaluru to detect and take action against drunken driving. Strict measures will be enforced against violations such as stunt riding, rash driving, and over-speeding. Citizens are advised to cooperate with the police and celebrate the New Year responsibly, with emergency assistance available by dialing 112.
Major flyovers in the city will be closed for vehicular traffic during specific hours, with restrictions on two-wheelers in certain areas. The public is urged to adhere to the regulations and park vehicles only in designated areas. The traffic restrictions cover significant stretches of roads in Bengaluru, including popular areas like M.G. Road, Brigade Road, and Church Street.
Cab and auto pick-up and drop-off locations have been designated at various junctions for convenience. BMTC buses and tempo traveler vehicles will operate on specific routes to facilitate transportation during the New Year period. In Indiranagar, similar arrangements have been made for public transport services and cab pick-up points.
