Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Samrat Choudhary, called for a meeting with the Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, and Chief Secretary, Pratyaya Amrit, regarding the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna. The victim’s family had sought justice from the Deputy Chief Minister, leading to this significant action. Choudhary promptly gathered top administrative and police officials to assess the investigation progress.
Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit and DGP Vinay Kumar met with the Home Minister as instructed, along with other key officials like Patna IG Jitendra Rana and members of the Special Investigation Team. Choudhary is closely overseeing all aspects of the case, hinting at potential major decisions following the review. The incident involves the death of a NEET aspirant from Jehanabad, who was allegedly sexually assaulted and later succumbed to injuries in Patna.
The ongoing SIT investigation has faced criticism due to delays in report submission, raising doubts about the police’s handling of the matter. The victim’s mother had accused the police of corruption and expressed concerns about justice being served. Allegations of police attempts to misrepresent the incident as a suicide, ignoring the sexual assault angle, have further strained the family’s trust in the Bihar Police. The SIT has reportedly detained six suspects, aiming for a conclusive investigation, while public and political pressure mounts for swift and fair justice.
