Cheesecake or biryani? Social media is struggling to decide after a Tamil food creator dropped one of the internet’s most bizarre fusion dishes yet — Biryani Cheesecake. The viral video has already crossed 1.2 million views, triggering shock, confusion, and outrage among biryani lovers.
Shared by Instagram creator @cookdtv, the clip shows what looks like a perfectly baked cheesecake — smooth top, neat edges, classic presentation. But the illusion lasts only seconds. “This looks like a cheesecake, but tastes exactly like a biryani,” the creator announces, introducing what might be the most controversial food experiment of the year.
What Is Biryani Cheesecake?
Unlike a traditional cheesecake made with biscuits and butter, this savoury version replaces them with fried onions, ghee, and garam masala. The filling combines cream cheese and yoghurt, infused with unmistakable biryani flavours — ginger-garlic, green chillies, masala, saffron, and more.
Once baked, the cheesecake is topped with raita and crispy fried onions, completing the biryani makeover.
Summing up the experience, the creator says:
“The eyes say cheesecake. The nose says biryani. The brain is confused. But the tongue says — give me another piece.”
Social Media Reactions Pour In
The Instagram post, which claims “This is a savoury cheesecake with biryani flavouring! It was brilliant, we all tasted it when it was made in the office,” has sparked mixed reactions from viewers.
Biryani purists expressed disapproval with comments like “Do not do this to biryani” and “What is this man? I don’t understand anything.”
Others showed curiosity tinged with skepticism: “I don’t know how I feel about this” and “Bro, will it be good? I can’t even think of it.”
Not the First Biryani Fusion to Go Viral
This isn’t the first time biryani has been at the centre of fusion food controversy. Food creator Heena Kausar Raad previously sparked debate with her “matcha biryani” – bright green rice that resembled matcha desserts.
The same creator had earlier shared ice cream biryani, featuring the classic rice dish topped with strawberry ice cream, created as part of a celebration after completing a seven-day baking course at her academy.
Love It or Hate It, Biryani Experiments Rule the Internet
Whether seen as creative innovation or culinary crime, one thing is undeniable — biryani experiments never go unnoticed. From matcha to ice cream to now cheesecake, every fusion sparks debate, proving once again that biryani is not just food in India — it’s an emotion.
And when emotions mix with the internet, chaos is guaranteed.
