As the political turmoil continues regarding the removal of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha from the post of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized AAP and its Convener Arvind Kejriwal. BJP National Spokesperson Shazia Ilmi expressed that AAP’s style of politics involves removing those who do not exhibit complete loyalty or sycophancy. She mentioned that Raghav Chadha, being a Rajya Sabha MP, cannot be ousted unless he resigns, which is unlikely.
Shazia Ilmi accused AAP Chief Kejriwal of harboring insecurity towards Raghav Chadha, suggesting that Kejriwal feels threatened by Chadha’s rising prominence. She highlighted that Kejriwal tends to tolerate individuals without a distinct identity. Additionally, BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah labeled AAP as a “liphafa party,” implying that the party faces internal challenges when loyalty falters.
Amid speculations of Raghav Chadha potentially joining the BJP, Marwah clarified that the BJP does not actively seek such leaders and does not coerce individuals into joining the party. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena Spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam insinuated that AAP’s decision to remove Chadha stemmed from his lack of support for Kejriwal during a legal issue. He suggested that AAP’s actions reveal its stance on corruption and integrity.
Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC remarked on AAP’s self-proclaimed identity as the Aam Aadmi Party, implying that it functions more like a ‘khaas aadmi’ party. Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy expressed disappointment with Raghav Chadha’s response to the party’s decision, questioning Chadha’s political experience and intentions. AAP has since appointed party MP Ashok Mittal to replace Raghav Chadha.
