The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) showcased a video revealing the destruction of a Hindu teacher’s residence in Gowainghat, Sylhet, Bangladesh, emphasizing parallels with alleged incidents in West Bengal. Amit Malviya, BJP’s Information Technology Cell chief, shared the video on social media, asserting that the teacher’s house was targeted solely because of his Hindu faith. Malviya drew a connection between the Bangladesh episode and past events in riot-affected Murshidabad district, West Bengal.
Much like the targeted violence against Hindu households in Murshidabad, Malviya condemned the deliberate attack on teacher Birendra Kumar Dey’s home in Bangladesh. He warned that failure to recognize the threat could lead to a fate similar to the lynching of Horgobindo Das and Chandan Das in West Bengal. Malviya urged Hindu Bengalis to heed the incidents in Bangladesh as a cautionary signal for their own community’s safety.
Referring to the alarming incident in Gowainghat, Malviya cautioned that if Hindu Bengalis remain indifferent, they risk facing a situation akin to the tragic lynching in Murshidabad. He stressed the importance of acknowledging the targeted persecution faced by Hindus in Bangladesh as a wake-up call for the community in West Bengal. Recent reports have highlighted a series of brutal attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh, sparking outrage and protests across various Indian cities.
