Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP Mahila Morcha president and Coimbatore South MLA, criticized the DMK government in Tamil Nadu for hindering crucial railway infrastructure projects due to delays in land acquisition. She refuted Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s recent claims that the Centre had neglected Tamil Nadu in railway project allocations, stating that the state’s own inaction was the primary cause of slow progress on the ground.
Srinivasan pointed out that despite the Central government allocating Rs 7,611 crore for railway projects in Tamil Nadu since 2014, only 24% of the required land for ongoing projects had been acquired. She emphasized the need for timely execution of infrastructure works and highlighted that financial constraints were not the issue, as the Centre had provided Rs 1,465 crore specifically for land acquisition.
Highlighting the importance of railway connectivity for economic growth and regional development, Srinivasan urged the DMK government to expedite land acquisition processes and collaborate with the Centre. She stressed that the completion of railway projects on time was crucial for the progress of Tamil Nadu, emphasizing the significance of faster implementation over political blame games.
