Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi expressed worry about the worsening law-and-order conditions in Bangladesh, emphasizing the need to halt the ongoing violence and criminal acts promptly for the well-being of humanity and stability. Naqvi remarked that the current environment indicated a severe breakdown of governance.
Addressing recent events, Naqvi stressed the urgency of putting an end to the rampant violence and crime in Bangladesh, cautioning that such actions were detrimental to any nation or religion. He also warned that the authorities’ silence in the face of atrocities could signify a loss of control, suggesting that the government had succumbed to these negative influences.
Minister Dilip Jaiswal echoed Naqvi’s concerns, suggesting that the situation in Bangladesh should not be seen in isolation and hinting at external involvement with intentions to destabilize the region. Jaiswal pointed towards Pakistan’s alleged role behind the incidents, indicating a broader agenda to disrupt the peace in Nepal, Bangladesh, and ultimately India.
The statements come amidst a series of troubling events in Bangladesh, including the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das, who was lynched by a mob over blasphemy allegations at his workplace. Despite the accusations, Bangladeshi authorities have refuted claims of blasphemy against Das, stating that there was no evidence to support such allegations.
Moreover, security issues have impacted Indian diplomatic operations in Bangladesh, leading to the suspension of visa services at the Indian Visa Application Centre in Chittagong following a violent incident outside the Indian Assistant High Commission. The decision to halt visa services was made after clashes outside the mission resulted in injuries and vandalism of the premises.
The unfolding events have raised significant concerns regarding safety, communal harmony, and regional stability.
