BJP national president Nitin Nabin emphasized the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s efforts in fostering development and safeguarding Assam’s heritage over the past decade. Speaking at an election rally in Ramkrishna Nagar Assembly constituency, Nabin criticized previous administrations for neglecting regions like Barak Valley, which he claimed were turned into “crime hubs” due to vote-bank politics. He recalled the challenges faced by the people in the region during his visits between 2010 and 2012, citing unrest, poor connectivity, and public hardships.
Highlighting the transformation, Nabin noted the significant improvement in road infrastructure and connectivity, making travel between Guwahati and the Barak Valley much smoother today. He attributed this progress to the infrastructure development initiatives undertaken by the NDA government, which he said were made possible by strong public support. Nabin also took a swipe at the Indian National Congress, alleging that their governance lacked livelihood security and safety for women and local communities.
Accusing the previous administrations of neglecting the concerns of indigenous people while being sympathetic towards infiltrators, Nabin stated that the people of Assam have rejected such politics. Drawing a comparison between past and present governance, he claimed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the focus has shifted towards the welfare of the poor. Nabin highlighted the success of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Assam, where approximately 22 lakh houses have been constructed for the underprivileged. He urged voters to continue supporting the BJP to sustain the ongoing development momentum in the state.
