BJP National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain expressed confidence that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are not to blame for the upcoming West Bengal elections’ outcome. He criticized the Trinamool Congress, suggesting that the party’s performance would be unfavorable. Hussain accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of being apprehensive about losing the election, citing her silence on achievements and focus on countering the BJP.
Hussain commended the BJP-led Central government’s proposal for 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies, a sentiment echoed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a recent rally in Cooch Behar. Modi highlighted the initiative’s potential impact by the 2029 Lok Sabha election, emphasizing the importance of supporting this move. However, Hussain criticized the Congress for impeding positive initiatives, citing Rahul Gandhi’s obstructive tendencies.
In a separate address, PM Modi condemned the recent incident in Malda district, where judicial officers were held captive, emphasizing the Trinamool Congress government’s failure to ensure security. He underscored the seriousness of the situation, questioning the government’s ability to protect both judges and citizens in West Bengal.
