Bharatiya Janata Party’s state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra claimed that his party respected B.R. Ambedkar post-Independence, contrasting it with the Congress whom he accused of disrespecting Babasaheb. Speaking at an event near the Ambedkar statue in Bengaluru, Vijayendra praised PM Modi for developing key Ambedkar sites, fulfilling his vision. He criticized the Congress for allegedly exploiting Dalits for votes and neglecting marginalized communities.
The 135th birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar will be observed soon, with various programs planned nationwide under the guidance of the Prime Minister and BJP National President Nitin Nabin. The BJP aims to spread Ambedkar’s message widely, as stated by Vijayendra. Several prominent figures, including former Deputy CM Govind Karjol, were present at the event in Bengaluru.
The Karnataka BJP has scheduled a series of events from April 13 to 20 to commemorate Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Jagadish Hiremani, a member of the Ambedkar Birth Anniversary National Committee, announced programs to promote Ambedkar’s ideology across the state. Statues and memorials related to Ambedkar will be cleaned, and commemorative events will be held.
Various celebrations, including “Bhima Deepotsava” programs, are planned across Karnataka to honor Ambedkar. Hiremani highlighted the cleaning of Ambedkar-related sites and the evening events. The festivities will extend to taluk and district centers, with a special Deepotsava near Halasuru Lake in Bengaluru. Similar events will be held statewide.
