BJP Tamil Nadu state president, Nainar Nagenthran, announced his candidacy for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from Sattur. This decision follows the allocation of the Tirunelveli constituency to the NDA’s ally, the AIADMK, as part of the seat-sharing agreement. Nagenthran clarified that this move was made at the AIADMK’s request to maintain unity within the coalition.
Nagenthran assured that despite the change in constituency, his commitment to serving the people and the party’s political agenda remains unwavering. He emphasized that his connection to Tirunelveli would endure, reflecting on his deep-rooted ties to the region. The BJP leader framed the upcoming elections as a judgment on governance, criticizing the ruling DMK for alleged unfulfilled promises and a decline in law and order.
Stressing the importance of press freedom, Nagenthran highlighted concerns about the political climate, citing a purported death threat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi by a DMK functionary. He criticized the DMK’s manifesto, contrasting it with past versions and accusing the party of selective secularism. Nagenthran expressed confidence in the NDA’s campaign strategy, affirming a robust and coordinated effort leading up to the elections.
