Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Gujarat’s Navsari district are celebrating their victory in 41 seats across various local bodies without any opposition in the ongoing local self-government elections. The wins signal a series of successes for the party ahead of the upcoming polls later this month.
The BJP candidates secured unopposed victories in three seats of the Navsari Municipal Corporation, six seats of the district panchayat, 11 seats of taluka panchayats, and 21 seats of the Gandevi municipality. The party workers expressed joy and celebrated the results across the district upon confirmation of their wins.
State Cabinet Minister Naresh Patel expressed pride in the BJP’s unopposed victory in the Gandevi Municipality, calling it a significant achievement for the party. In a separate development in Ahmedabad, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Ketan Patel withdrew his nomination from the Odhav ward in the Nikol Assembly constituency, a seat held by state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma. Patel later joined the BJP along with his supporters, as confirmed by the party.
The BJP state leadership, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, is actively leading the campaign in various districts alongside party officials. These events are unfolding amidst heightened political activities in Gujarat, with ongoing campaigning and withdrawals in preparation for the local body polls. The election process encompasses municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats, and taluka panchayats across Gujarat, with voting scheduled for April 26 and counting on April 28.
