Blue Warriors, led by Lalit Dayma, emerged victorious over Star XI in the final of a six-a-side tennis ball cricket tournament at Delhi’s DDA Siri Fort Stadium. The innovative tournament, sponsored by Victorious Endeavours, featured six-over matches where only boundaries and big hits counted towards the score, creating an intense and power-packed competition.
In the final match, Blue Warriors won the toss and chose to bat first. Mohit Meena and Tarun, the openers, started aggressively, putting pressure on the Star XI bowlers from the beginning. Mohit Meena played a supporting role, scoring 34 off 18 balls with five sixes and a four before getting out, while Tarun remained unbeaten with a spectacular 56 off just 18 deliveries, including two fours and eight sixes. Blue Warriors set a challenging total of 93/1 in their six overs.
Star XI, chasing the target, had a promising start but faltered as the match progressed. Losing wickets at regular intervals, they could only manage 45/3 in six overs, falling short by 48 runs. Blue Warriors’ strong performance secured them the title, along with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and the trophy, concluding a successful campaign in the tournament.
The tournament also aimed to promote road safety awareness, with ‘Helmet Man of India’ Raghvendra Kumar attending the final as the chief guest. Kumar stressed the importance of wearing helmets for road safety, urging players and spectators to follow traffic rules. He emphasized that simple precautions like wearing helmets can save lives and encouraged cricketers to use their influence to raise awareness.
