Nearly a year after Gayasuddin Qureshi’s burial, his body was exhumed in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, as ordered by the High Court. The exhumation, overseen by the Adhartal Sub-Divisional Magistrate, aims to clarify the circumstances of Qureshi’s death. Doctors at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College will conduct a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
The High Court had set a fixed timeframe for the exhumation and post-mortem following concerns raised by Qureshi’s family. The deceased’s brother had questioned the initial handling of the case, citing injury marks and seeking a fresh post-mortem. The court emphasized the need for exhumation to uncover the truth and ensure justice prevails without procedural lapses.
The case now awaits the post-mortem report, which will be crucial in determining if the death was accidental or involved foul play. The findings from the medical examination could potentially lead to a criminal investigation, shedding light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding Qureshi’s demise.
