In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police discovered more than 6 kg of heroin dropped by a drone in the R.S. Pura sector of the international border in Jammu district. The seized contraband, valued at over Rs 20 crore, arrived in two separate drops by a drone from across the border and was intercepted during a joint operation by security forces. This joint effort highlights the increased measures to combat cross-border drug trafficking and block narcotics from entering the Union Territory.
Security agencies have observed a rise in attempts to smuggle arms, ammunition, and drugs using drones along the international border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. These illicit deliveries are often meant to be retrieved by individuals associated with smuggling or militant groups for further distribution. To counter these threats, security forces, including the Army along the LoC and the BSF along the international border, have bolstered surveillance and deployed anti-drone systems.
Along the international border in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts, the BSF has increased monitoring activities by leveraging advanced technology and specialized equipment. Simultaneously, Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are conducting operations against terrorism and smuggling in the region to uncover and dismantle illegal networks engaged in drug trafficking and other unlawful practices. Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and prevent future attempts of cross-border smuggling.
