The ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ is currently underway in Gujarat’s Somnath, celebrating India’s cultural guardians and the enduring significance of its spiritual centers. Gujarat Minister Jitu Vaghani emphasized the festival’s reflection of the deep bond millions of Indians share with the revered Somnath temple. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, efforts have been made to reconnect the younger generation with India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
A key feature of the festival is the 72-hour uninterrupted Omkar chanting by young rishikumars, a practice endorsed by the Prime Minister for the welfare of humanity and global well-being. This continuous chanting has engendered a unique atmosphere of devotion and spiritual energy across Somnath. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s post-Independence restoration of the Somnath temple is also remembered for reaffirming the nation’s faith, identity, and pride.
The ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ serves as a tribute to those who have sacrificed to preserve Indian culture. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Somnath on January 10, with his presence expected to make the celebrations historic. A Shaurya Yatra featuring 108 horses and a grand drone show have been organized in his honor, attracting devotees from across the state to participate in the festivities.
The event witnessed a traditional revadi procession by saints and sadhus, with elaborate arrangements, decorative lighting, and well-planned event management enhancing the festive spirit in Somnath. Minister Vaghani extended an invitation to citizens from all communities to partake in this significant celebration of Sanatan Dharma. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi’s attendance at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in Rajkot is anticipated to play a crucial role in the development and investment landscape of Saurashtra and Gujarat.
