Chaos broke out at an animal fair in Muzaffarpur just before Bhojpuri singer Khesari Lal Yadav was set to perform. The incident occurred in the Garha police station area of Aurai block, where a large crowd had gathered for the fair organized by former minister Ram Surat Rai.
As news of Khesari Lal Yadav’s arrival spread, a surge of thousands of people rushed towards the stage, overwhelming the existing arrangements. Due to inadequate crowd management, the situation escalated, leading the police to resort to a lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.
Eyewitnesses reported that several individuals fell and sustained injuries during the chaos. Despite this, there has been no official confirmation of any severe injuries or fatalities as of now. The disorder disrupted the event entirely, resulting in the evacuation of the stage area before the performance could commence.
Locals criticized the lack of adequate security measures to match the scale of the gathering. This incident adds to previous controversies surrounding the fair, including a viral video showing a scuffle between performers, raising concerns about event management. Videos of the recent chaos have circulated on social media, depicting police using batons to control the panicked crowd.
The fair, which attracted numerous visitors for livestock trading and cultural programs, garnered significant local attention. However, the incident has overshadowed the event, exposing serious deficiencies in crowd control and safety protocols.
