Chennai Super Kings’ Ayush Mhatre reflected on his performance in the IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals, where he scored 59 runs off 36 deliveries. Mhatre, who hit three fours and four sixes, was retired out to make way for Shivam Dube.
Speaking to JioStar, Mhatre mentioned that the team needed big shots at that point, and he was unable to deliver, leading to the decision for him to be retired out. He expressed his enjoyment playing for CSK, highlighting the team’s supportive environment and familial atmosphere.
Mhatre, who recently captained India to victory in the 2026 Men’s U19 World Cup, shared his journey from being a replacement player in IPL 2025 to his current success. He recalled the moment he joined CSK and the warm welcome he received from the team, especially from Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The young batter, inspired by Rohit Sharma, emphasized his dream of securing a long-term spot in the senior national team. Mhatre remains focused on his goal of consistent performance across different cricket formats, aiming to represent India at the highest level.
