Over the next three days, the coastal districts of southern Tamil Nadu are forecasted to have light rainfall as per the Regional Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This weather pattern indicates a continuation of mild pre-summer conditions in specific areas of the state.
According to the IMD’s recent bulletin, there may be light showers in one or two places along the southern coastal region during this period. Additionally, districts near the Western Ghats are expected to experience moderate rainfall, offering temporary relief from escalating temperatures and dry weather in those localities.
While the rainfall may provide respite, temperatures across Tamil Nadu are anticipated to rise gradually. The IMD predicts a potential increase of up to 3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures across various parts of the state in the upcoming days, signaling the onset of warmer weather conditions.
In Chennai, partly cloudy weather is anticipated with maximum temperatures ranging between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures hovering around 25 to 26 degrees Celsius. These warm and humid conditions are typical for this season as the city transitions further into summer.
Despite the changing weather dynamics, no warnings have been issued for fishermen along the Tamil Nadu coast, indicating stable sea conditions that allow fishing activities to proceed without major disruptions. Residents are advised to take precautions against the increasing heat by staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, and scheduling outdoor activities during cooler times of the day.
Especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children are urged to be cautious. While isolated rainfall may offer brief relief in specific areas, the overall trend suggests a warming climate across the state. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to provide further updates as weather conditions evolve.
