Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged in virtual discussions with various world leaders to enhance bilateral ties and trade. One of these interactions was with Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade from the UAE, where they explored ways to strengthen India-UAE trade relations. Goyal expressed eagerness to elevate their strategic partnership.
Additionally, Goyal had talks with Francisco Perez Mackenna, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, focusing on advancing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations and bolstering bilateral trade. He also virtually met with Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), emphasizing the need to enhance cooperation across sectors.
Furthermore, Goyal had a productive virtual meeting with Osama Khaled Boodai, the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait, discussing the expansion of bilateral trade relations and collaboration in key sectors. He also participated in the launch of the India-USA Trade Facilitation Portal, highlighting its role in facilitating direct engagement between Indian exporters and US importers.
Goyal recently mentioned the government’s plans to introduce new measures to assist Indian exporters amid disruptions in global trade due to the West Asia conflict. Various decisions are being considered across ministries and are expected to be announced soon.
