Around 15 Congress legislators gathered for a breakfast meeting at Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi to discuss the need for a Cabinet reshuffle and show support through a signature campaign. Emphasizing the completion of three years in office, the MLAs highlighted the necessity of offering opportunities to new faces. The informal meeting saw legislators signing a memorandum advocating for ministerial berths and broader representation, aiming to communicate their aspirations to the party leadership collectively.
The legislators plan to present their demands to Congress National President, Mallikarjun Kharge. Calls for a Cabinet reshuffle have been growing within the party, viewed as a routine practice to balance governance and representation. A.S. Ponnanna, the Virajpet MLA and Legal Advisor to the Chief Minister, clarified that the push for a reshuffle is not intended as rebellion but as a democratic expression of the party’s desire for new faces in the cabinet.
Ponnanna highlighted the ongoing demand within the party for new ministerial appointments, emphasizing that such requests are part of the democratic process. He stressed the importance of balanced representation, pointing out the need to provide opportunities to districts and communities that have not yet been adequately represented in the Cabinet. While acknowledging that the final decision rests with the high command, Chief Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister, Ponnanna expressed hope for a reshuffle to occur soon to ensure wider representation and social justice.
