Congress Lok Sabha MP Tariq Anwar criticized veteran party leader Kamal Nath for denying the existence of a gas shortage, stating that such claims are disconnected from reality. Anwar emphasized the need for individuals to witness the situation firsthand to comprehend the actual conditions on the ground.
Anwar highlighted the severe impact of the alleged gas shortage on common people, noting instances where families struggle to afford food and children go hungry due to the crisis. He pointed out that the escalating prices of both domestic and commercial gas have rendered it unaffordable for many, leading to migrant workers returning home.
The Congress MP expressed concern over the unsustainable cost of gas cylinders for low-income households, leading them to prioritize basic needs over cooking fuel. Anwar cautioned against making uninformed statements that disregard the struggles faced by citizens, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging ground realities before drawing conclusions.
Reacting to differing opinions within the party, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted the democratic nature of the Indian National Congress, citing the party’s openness to internal debates and diverse viewpoints on critical issues.
