Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha member P. Sandosh Kumar from Kerala has written to Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, urging action against top Congress leaders implicated in a cash for ticket scam. The FIR, filed at the North Avenue Police Station in New Delhi, names Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Lok Sabha Chief Whip K Suresh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s Personal Assistant Sahab Ahmad Khan, and K.C. Venugopal’s PA Anas Ali for allegedly extracting money in exchange for an Assembly ticket.
Kumar highlighted that the accused individuals are closely associated with the Congress leadership and are perceived to be close to Rahul Gandhi personally. He emphasized that similar allegations of cash for tickets have emerged in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam, suggesting a systemic issue within the party.
Moreover, Kumar raised concerns about the transparency of funds collected by the Congress post the Chooralmala Mundakkai landslides in Wayanad district. He called on Rahul Gandhi to provide verifiable details on the funds’ collection, deposition, and utilization to address doubts. Kumar urged Gandhi to either take firm action against those implicated in the FIR and ensure transparency in fund utilization or relinquish the anti-corruption stance.
Rahul Gandhi, amidst his election campaign, has been criticizing the LDF government for corruption as Kerala gears up for state elections on April 9, where the UDF government is poised to make a comeback according to pre-poll surveys.
