Daryl Mitchell has claimed the top spot in the men’s ODI batters’ rankings, overtaking Virat Kohli, following his consecutive centuries that led New Zealand to a 2-1 series victory against India. With 845 ranking points, Mitchell now leads the list, while Kohli has slipped to second place with 795 points. Notably, Ibrahim Zadran, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Babar Azam are among those trailing behind the top two.
Mitchell, who has now secured the No.1 ODI cricket ranking for the second time, previously held the position briefly last November before being surpassed by Rohit Sharma. His recent performances have seen him amass four ODI centuries, just one shy of AB de Villiers’ record against India. Additionally, his consecutive scores of over 130 have not only matched Martin Guptill’s record for the most in New Zealand’s ODI history but have also propelled him to the pinnacle of the ODI Batting Rankings.
In a noteworthy development, Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran has moved up to third place with 764 ranking points, surpassing former Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who now occupies the fourth spot. This shift places Mitchell and Kohli ahead of the chasing pack in the rankings.
During New Zealand’s series-clinching win in Indore, Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell combined for a remarkable 219-run partnership, the second-highest in New Zealand’s ODI history. Phillips’ impressive performance, scoring 106 runs off 88 balls, has propelled him 16 places up the rankings to 20th position. Moreover, Phillips has now ascended 14 spots to jointly hold the 31st position among ODI all-rounders, with Azmatullah Omarzai from Afghanistan maintaining the top spot.
Michael Bracewell from New Zealand has made significant progress in the ODI bowling rankings, climbing six places to 33rd after delivering strong performances in the initial two matches of the series against India. Notably, the top of the bowling rankings remains unchanged, with Rashid Khan from Afghanistan leading the pack with 710 points, followed by England’s Jofra Archer with 670 points.
Rashid Khan, after a commendable performance in the opening T20I match against the West Indies in Dubai, has advanced two places to secure the second position in the latest T20I bowler rankings. Furthermore, his teammate Mujeeb Ur Rahman has also moved up two spots to share the 14th position among bowlers, while Ibrahim Zadran has climbed five places to secure the 15th spot in the most recent T20I batting rankings.
