Armed criminals conducted a major robbery at a jewellery shop in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, looting valuables worth nearly Rs 1.8 crore. The incident took place at “Prem Jewellers” in the Bara Bazar area, with four miscreants holding customers and staff at gunpoint. The robbers looted gold and silver jewellery valued at around Rs 1.5 crore, along with Rs 22–25 lakh in cash.
The shop, which operates on a wholesale basis, had a significant amount of stock at the time of the robbery. Allegations arose that police arrived at the scene nearly half an hour after the crime. Senior officials, including DIG Manoj Tiwari and SSP Jagannath Reddy, initiated a high-level probe into the incident. The suspects, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, are being tracked through CCTV footage and district-wide checkpoints.
In a recent robbery case in Patna, swift police action led to the arrest of four criminals within two days. The police formed a special investigation team and used CCTV footage to track the suspects. The accused, natives of Siwan and Saran districts, confessed to the crime during interrogation. This sharp contrast in police response has raised concerns over security preparedness in Bihar, sparking worries among traders and residents in busy market areas.
