The death toll from a tragic road accident in Mumbai’s Kalyan has reached 11 as two individuals succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. A dumper truck collided with a car on the Rayta Bridge along the Kalyan-Murbad road around 11 a.m., resulting in this unfortunate incident. The car, traveling from Kalyan, collided head-on with a mixer truck, as per initial reports.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed sorrow over the accident and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. Fadnavis acknowledged the loss of 11 lives in the collision between two vehicles near Kalyan on National Highway 61, terming it a tragic event. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations, while the injured are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Police authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, with preliminary information pointing to possible causes like excessive speed or loss of vehicle control. The collision resulted in a significant traffic jam near the Rayta Bridge in the Titwala-Kalyan area, impacting vehicular movement. Rescue and relief operations were promptly launched by the Titwala Police Station team following the incident.
