Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commemorated the 112th birth anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, praising his enduring influence on generations. Singh described Manekshaw as a pivotal figure in India’s military history, lauding his leadership, bravery, and strategic acumen that shaped crucial moments for the nation. Known as “Sam Bahadur,” Manekshaw exemplified the essence of a true Soldiers’ General, earning the unwavering respect and admiration of his troops.
The Indian Army also paid tribute to the legendary Field Marshal, acknowledging his contributions. The Army remembered Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw, MC, fondly known as #SamBahadur, on his 112th #BirthAnniversary. As the 8th #COAS and Field Marshal of India, he played a key role in India’s decisive victory over Pakistan in the 1971 War. His charismatic leadership, strategic brilliance, and enduring wit continue to inspire every Indian soldier.
In a move to instill patriotism and impart lessons on courage and sacrifice, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) introduced a dedicated chapter on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw last year. This addition was part of a broader initiative to integrate the legacy of the National War Memorial into school education. The life and achievements of the military icon will now be taught in specific classes, aiming to offer students inspirational stories of valor, leadership, and duty.
