The Delhi Legislative Assembly’s Secretariat has instructed government departments to implement recommendations from the Committee on Public Accounts by July 31. These recommendations stem from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India’s audit of Public Health Infrastructure and Health Services management. The Assembly’s directive aims to shift focus towards enforceable outcomes and emphasizes accountability in the health sector.

Signaling a move towards measurable compliance, the Assembly’s directive follows the formal adoption of the Committee’s First Report. Speaker Vijender Gupta stressed the need to enhance public healthcare infrastructure, extend service accessibility, and ensure quality medical care for all. The Health Minister and Health Secretary of Delhi have been urged to respond promptly to the Committee’s findings and recommendations.

A detailed examination of public health infrastructure, service delivery systems, and health services management forms the core of the report. The Action Taken Report is expected to outline departmental progress on recommendations and set specific completion timelines. This structured follow-up mechanism aims to translate audit observations into tangible administrative actions within defined timeframes.

Speaker Vijender Gupta highlighted the importance of efficient health service delivery as a fundamental aspect of governance. He emphasized the need for quality infrastructure, trained health professionals, equitable access, and accountability to meet Delhi’s healthcare demands effectively. The Committee stressed the significance of safeguarding citizens’ well-being and dignity through timely interventions, robust healthcare services, and fair resource distribution.
