Venugopal Rao, the Director of Cricket at Delhi Capitals, acknowledged that a middle-order collapse against Chennai Super Kings resulted in a 23-run loss in their IPL 2026 game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Chasing a target of 213, DC faltered after losing quick wickets, eventually getting bowled out for 189. Rao highlighted the impact of losing four wickets in four overs as a pivotal moment in the match.

Rao emphasized the importance of momentum in the game and mentioned that better fielding could have saved crucial runs for DC. Despite the defeat, he praised Sanju Samson’s remarkable century for CSK.

Regarding team personnel, Rao refrained from disclosing details about Mitchell Starc’s return and the potential inclusion of Nikhil Chaudhary, stating that updates would be provided in due time.
