Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended the ‘Vardaan’ Film Festival, stressing that organ donation is a significant act of giving new life to others, not just a medical procedure. She highlighted the impact of individual pledges in bringing hope to numerous families. The event, organized by the Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, was graced by various dignitaries including Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra and MLA Om Prakash Sharma.
Such initiatives, as mentioned by the Chief Minister, play a crucial role in promoting progressive thinking and a sense of service towards humanity. She acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to make organ donation a mass movement, urging more people to support this noble cause. Delhi, lacking a structured mechanism for organ donation, established the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) to facilitate pledges.
The Chief Minister disclosed that over 800 individuals have registered on the SOTTO platform since September, emphasizing the need for enhanced public awareness on organ donation. She urged attendees to educate themselves and others about this noble service, emphasizing that organ donation is a profound way of giving life to others. Commending the Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti for its awareness efforts, she lauded the dedication of its volunteers as a source of inspiration for society.
