The Delhi High Court Bar Association has decided to boycott work on the first and third Saturdays of each month in opposition to the recent ruling enforcing court sessions on these days. This resolution, effective from April 4, was made following unsuccessful attempts to persuade the Delhi High Court to reconsider its decision made on January 15, 2026. The Bar Association highlighted the practical challenges faced by its members due to Saturday court hearings, affecting their professional commitments outside Delhi.

The Executive Committee of the Bar Association emphasized that the Saturday sittings clash with other legal proceedings like tribunal appearances, arbitrations, and mediation sessions, impacting advocates’ preparation time and overall efficiency. All members of the Delhi High Court Bar Association are urged to support this move and refrain from work on the specified Saturdays, with proxy counsels designated for court appearances on those days. The Bar body reiterated its plea to the Delhi High Court to review the mandate for Saturday operations, hoping that the concerns raised by the legal community would be given due consideration.
