Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu recently met with Ashok Mittal, the new Deputy Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha, at Lok Niwas. Mittal, a 61-year-old entrepreneur, politician, and chancellor of a private university, is also a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Finance. The meeting between Mittal and Sandhu took place amidst controversy surrounding Mittal’s sudden appointment as the AAP Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Raghav Chadha.
Chadha, the former Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha for AAP, engaged in a public dispute with party leaders, including Delhi unit President Saurabh Bharadwaj. The rift within the party became evident as Chadha accused the party of silencing him for advocating people’s concerns, while other AAP members criticized him for allegedly aligning with the government. Mittal, who marked four years in the Upper House, expressed gratitude to his fellow parliamentarians for their support and encouragement throughout his journey in the Rajya Sabha.
