Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who is also the Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), recently inspected various infrastructure and urban development projects in Dwarka sub-city. He stressed the importance of establishing top-notch civic infrastructure to position the area as a hub for international business and cultural activities. Sandhu, accompanied by DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar and other officials, visited key project sites, including Storm Water Channels, proposed IT and ITES hubs, a Golf Course, a Convention Centre, and a five-star hotel project.
During the review, Sandhu instructed officials to ensure that all DDA projects have world-class civic infrastructure and services. He highlighted the significance of public infrastructure in enhancing residents’ quality of life and contributing to the city’s urban evolution. Dwarka, with its strategic advantages like connectivity via Urban Extension Road-II, proximity to the Indira Gandhi International Airport, and modern amenities such as Yashobhoomi and the upcoming Bharat Vandana Park, has the potential to become a prime global destination.
Sandhu emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to promote Dwarka as a center for international conventions, exhibitions, business summits, and cultural events. He also called for active collaboration with multinational corporations, global institutions, and embassies to host significant conferences and corporate gatherings in the area. Noteworthy projects like the Storm Water Channels redevelopment initiative, aimed at transforming drainage infrastructure into green recreational spaces, and the proposed five-star hotel project under a unique model were reviewed.
The LG assessed the Golf Course project in Sector-24, envisioning it as an international-standard public sporting venue with an 18-hole championship course, practice holes, and a driving range. Sandhu reiterated his commitment to development-oriented governance by urging the DDA to conceptualize more landmark projects focusing on urban beautification, green mobility, recreation, and sustainable infrastructure to enhance the living standards of Delhi’s residents.
