During a meeting with Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, senior Delhi Metro officials shared that anti-smog guns and mist spray systems are being set up at Metro stations and along elevated corridors to tackle dust and pollution. The Chief Minister commended the Metro’s efforts and urged them to lead by example in the city’s fight against pollution, emphasizing clean air as a top priority for the government.
In the meeting, Metro officials highlighted their adoption of concrete and technology-driven pollution control measures. They reported that 83 anti-smog guns, along with other dust-control initiatives, are already operational at construction sites, with plans for 20 more guns to be installed soon. The remaining 10 anti-smog guns are scheduled for installation shortly.
The Metro authorities expressed confidence in completing the installation of all anti-smog guns by January 15. Stations like Kashmere Gate, Samaypur Badli, Dwarka Sector-21, and others have either received or are set to receive these anti-smog guns. Additionally, mist spray systems have been installed at 37 metro stations, with a goal to cover all elevated metro stations in Delhi by January 20.
At locations without anti-smog guns, mist spray systems will be mandatory. Stations like Pitampura, Rithala, Ghitorni, and others have already had these systems installed. The Metro officials also informed CM Gupta about plans for artwork on around 200 metro pillars, with 50 pillars targeted for early completion. Beautification and cleanliness efforts are being ramped up, including maintenance work around metro stations and collaboration with the Public Works Department.
