Delhi Health and Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh expressed disappointment with Aam Aadmi Party Opposition MLAs for their absence during crucial Delhi Assembly sessions, including the presentation of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. Singh highlighted that this behavior undermines the democratic process and shows a lack of responsibility. The Opposition’s absence seemed strategic, aiming to avoid discussions on contentious issues like the ‘Sheeshmahal’ matter, the renovated official residence of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Singh raised concerns about accountability, emphasizing the importance of transparency and responsibility in governance. He assured that the government’s initiatives and information shared during Assembly sessions will be made public to ensure transparency. The Minister outlined the government’s focus on enhancing Delhi’s health and transport sectors in the upcoming year’s budget. The allocated budget includes substantial funds for healthcare and transport, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and modernizing the transportation system.
Highlighting key investments, Singh mentioned plans to boost public health infrastructure, complete pending hospital projects, expand medical education, and establish integrated healthcare facilities. Additionally, the transport sector will witness advancements in green mobility, such as the expansion of electric buses, ongoing metro investments, and the introduction of EV Policy 2.0. Singh also commended Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, noting that the budget reflects a comprehensive vision for inclusive development and enhanced quality of life for Delhi’s residents.
