In a significant development, Delhi Police have captured Akshat Maheshwari, a 25-year-old resident of Delhi, who was wanted in five criminal cases, including robbery, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. Maheshwari, who had been on the run for 1.4 years, was apprehended following a targeted operation based on actionable intelligence. The police termed him a desperate robber, auto-lifter, and burglar.
The arrest was made by the Special Staff of South District police under the guidance of senior officers as part of a special drive to track proclaimed offenders. Maheshwari, identified as a proclaimed offender in two cases, was located near Cherry County, Greater Noida, on April 4. The police team, led by Inspector Anuj Kumar, successfully raided the location and detained Maheshwari, who confessed to his involvement in three additional cases of motor vehicle theft and burglary.
The press release detailed Maheshwari’s criminal history, citing his involvement in over eight previous cases, including theft, receiving stolen property, and burglary across various police stations in Delhi. The police emphasized the commendable work of the team in capturing Maheshwari, ensuring public safety.
