In response to a murder case in Dabri, the Delhi Police’s AATS team from Dwarka District swiftly apprehended the main suspect, identified as Prem Sharma alias Himanshu, near Najafgarh (Kakrola) Nala Road. Acting on specific intelligence, the 21-year-old suspect attempted to escape on a stolen scooty on Monday night but resorted to firing at the police instead of surrendering, discharging three rounds. One bullet hit Head Constable Sandeep’s bulletproof vest, averting a serious injury.
Exercising self-defence, the police team retaliated with controlled firing, hitting the suspect in the right knee and neutralizing the threat. Despite a scuffle, the accused, with a history of criminal activities, was subdued and taken into custody. A pistol and cartridges were recovered, and the injured suspect was promptly hospitalized.
On March 29, a stabbing incident was reported near Durga Mata Mandir, leading to the death of Govind Jha at Akash Hospital on March 30. In a related encounter, another suspect was injured in Dwarka. Following leads, the police located Rohit Kumar, alias Noddy, who opened fire during the arrest attempt. Kumar was apprehended after being shot in the knee, and a pistol was seized from him.
A case has been filed at Dwarka North police station under relevant laws, and investigations are ongoing into the incident.
