The Delhi Police Crime Branch uncovered an illegal LPG cylinder storage and refilling operation in Dabri, seizing 17 domestic gas cylinders from various companies. The raid, based on specific intelligence, targeted a shop in Seetapuri where unauthorized activities were taking place, including the storage and refilling of LPG cylinders from Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indane Gas.
Amid concerns of LPG shortages, a specialized team was formed to tackle hoarding and black market activities. Led by Inspector Anil Malik, the team, including Sub-Inspectors Dharmendra and Mohit Batan, conducted a successful raid at Seetapuri following detailed groundwork. The shop owner, Mohan Lal Garg, was found engaged in illegal refilling practices, selling gas at inflated prices.
The accused, Mohan Lal Garg, was reportedly selling LPG at Rs 200 per kilogram, accumulating a significant number of cylinders without proper authorization. The seized cylinders were handed over to the local police, and necessary actions were initiated by Food Supply Officer Harjeet Kaur. A case has been registered under relevant sections, and investigations are ongoing to address the illegal operation.
Police highlighted the importance of such crackdowns to prevent exploitation of consumers through overpriced LPG sales. The Delhi Police’s continuous efforts to combat illegal activities like hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities, particularly LPG cylinders, aim to ensure fair distribution and prevent artificial scarcity.
