In an effort to enhance pedestrian safety and urban mobility, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh revealed plans to build eight Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at accident-prone spots in Delhi. These projects demonstrate the government’s dedication to creating safer roads with citizen-focused infrastructure. The FOBs will be located at various places including Madhuban Chowk, Welcome-cut, Shahbad Dairy, Ber Sarai Market, Katwaria Sarai, Okhla Sabzi Mandi, Janakpuri, and Lal Singh Chowk.
The decision to construct these FOBs is part of a strategic move by the Delhi government to minimize road accidents, streamline traffic flow, and offer secure crossing facilities for the city’s daily commuters. Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh emphasized the importance of modern solutions for Delhi’s growth, ensuring that pedestrians can cross roads safely without risking their lives. The construction of these FOBs at critical locations aims to improve traffic flow and provide a secure passage for pedestrians.
To ensure timely completion of the projects, the Minister has set clear deadlines to avoid any delays. He stressed the need for swift execution, moving away from slow infrastructure practices. Construction is scheduled to commence in February, with a strong emphasis on accountability and efficiency. The Minister also highlighted the necessity for close coordination among all relevant agencies to facilitate smooth progress without hindrances.
