Lakhs of devotees gathered at Shiva temples across Odisha to celebrate Maha Shivaratri by witnessing the sacred late-night ritual of raising the Mahadeep atop temple structures. Prominent temples like the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar and the Loknath Temple in Puri saw a significant influx of devotees.
As the day progressed, the number of devotees swelled, with thousands assembling to witness the traditional observances associated with Maha Shivaratri. The temples, adorned with flowers and lit with earthen lamps, created a spiritually vibrant ambiance throughout the state.
Immersed in religious fervor, devotees chanted the holy names of Lord Shiva, engaging in prayers and rituals from daybreak till late into the night at various temple premises. Elaborate arrangements were made by temple authorities to manage the heavy influx of devotees and ensure a smooth darshan experience for visitors.
Security measures were heightened at major temples in Odisha to facilitate hassle-free darshan and maintain law and order during the religious gatherings. The Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, for instance, announced the schedule for the Mahadeepa ceremony, a central highlight of the Maha Shivaratri celebrations.
