He highlighted the film’s success in winning hearts and described it as a gem produced by his company and the director’s production house. ‘Visaranai’, a cult classic, was a joint venture of Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Vetrimaran’s Grassroots Film Company, featuring a talented cast.
The movie, based on the book ‘Lock Up’ by M Chandrakumar, depicted the author’s real-life experiences of police brutality. ‘Visaranai’ received critical acclaim and audience appreciation, securing three National Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor. Dhanush expressed his joy at the film’s recognition and praised director Vetrimaran for their successful collaboration.
Notably, ‘Visaranai’ also gained international recognition, winning prestigious awards at the Venice International Film Festival. Amnesty International Italy lauded the film for its powerful portrayal of human rights violations in Indian police stations, emphasizing its impact on raising awareness about such issues.
