Critically acclaimed director Meera Kathiravan has shared that actress Malavika Manoj, starring in the upcoming romantic drama ‘Habeebi’, portrays a character named Nilofer Nisha, affectionately known as ‘Nilavu Pulla’ (Moon Child) in the film. Director Meera Kathiravan expressed that he specifically sought an actress who could embody a 90s girl with varying appearances across different time frames, leading to the selection of Malavika Manoj after auditioning over 200–250 artists. The director praised Malavika’s performance, highlighting her expressive eyes and ability to convey emotions through body language in the role.
Malavika Manoj, known for her recent successes in films like ‘Joe’ and ‘Aan Paavam Polladhadhu’, received strong support from her family and showcased immense dedication to her craft during the filming of ‘Habeebi’. The film, set to offer a heartfelt narrative depicting the life and emotions of Tamil Muslims, will delve into themes of love, human connections, and personal experiences. ‘Habeebi’ is slated for a global release by Romeo Pictures Raahul, a production house recognized for both commercial hits and content-driven cinema, with actor Dhanush’s father, Kasturi Raja, playing a significant role.
