After demonstrating strength in Tirupur, the DMK plans a zonal-level Women’s Wing conference in the Delta region, a key stronghold for the ruling party. The event, named ‘Vellum Tamil Pengal’ (Victorious Tamil Women), is scheduled for January 19 in Thanjavur. It is expected to draw a significant number of women cadres, elected officials, and office-bearers from the Delta districts, highlighting the party’s focus on women’s political involvement.
Chief Minister and DMK President M. K. Stalin will address the conference, emphasizing the government’s initiatives for women’s welfare, social justice policies, and the role of women in bolstering the party’s grassroots network. Kanimozhi, the party’s Deputy General Secretary, will lead the conference, having played a pivotal role in expanding the DMK’s reach among female voters statewide.
The conference will be overseen by K. N. Nehru, the DMK’s Principal Secretary, with the participation of senior leaders including General Secretary Duraimurugan and Treasurer T. R. Baalu. Notable figures like Deputy General Secretaries I. Periyasamy, K. Ponmudy, Tiruchi Siva, and MP Saminathan are also expected to attend. This zonal meeting in the Delta region is part of the DMK’s efforts to strengthen its organizational structure through a series of zonal conferences across Tamil Nadu.
Recently, the DMK Youth Wing held its northern zone conference in Tiruvannamalai on December 14, 2025, signaling the party’s commitment to ramping up grassroots political engagement. Following conferences in the northern, western, and Delta regions, the DMK will shift focus to the southern districts, with plans for a zonal-level meeting in Madurai soon. This comprehensive mobilization strategy aims to prepare the party for the upcoming elections.
