Edappadi K Palaniswami, the AIADMK General Secretary, slammed the ruling DMK government during a public gathering in Velachery. He criticized the administration for failing to deliver on electoral promises, especially in terms of job creation and filling government vacancies. Palaniswami also highlighted the issue of recurrent flooding in Chennai, particularly in areas like Velachery, blaming the government for inadequate flood prevention measures.
The former Chief Minister labeled the DMK as an “evil force,” citing a decline in law and order under their rule. He expressed concerns about the safety of women, children, and the public, stating that people were living in fear. In contrast, Palaniswami praised the AIADMK’s track record on safety and law enforcement during its tenure.
Palaniswami urged voters to evaluate the DMK’s performance from 2021 to 2026, questioning the government’s impact on the populace. He alleged a lack of significant infrastructure development in Chennai under the current administration, particularly criticizing the neglect of issues like waterlogging in Velachery. Promising a focus on flood control and urban infrastructure, he outlined the AIADMK’s priorities if re-elected.
As the election campaign gains momentum, Palaniswami’s statements underscore the Opposition’s emphasis on governance matters such as employment, civic amenities, and public security, aiming to influence voter opinions before the polls.
