The Election Commission of India (ECI) has requested West Bengal government employees to confirm they are not registered as duplicate voters in two locations. Employees must fill out specific forms provided by the commission, detailing their voter status in West Bengal and disclosing if they are registered in multiple places. If an employee is found to be listed twice, they are responsible for rectifying the issue by contacting the relevant booth-level officer for deletion.

In the provided form, state government employees are required to report any changes in their voting location, such as due to relocation. They must also indicate if they have already requested the removal of their name from one of the locations in case of duplication. Currently, West Bengal has around 10 lakh state government employees, as per reports.

The Commission aims to ensure the accountability of government employees to prevent any instances of duplicate voting. Any false information provided by the employees in the declaration form will be considered a serious matter. The Commission, along with the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, warns of potential legal actions against employees found to have provided incorrect details in the declaration forms.
