Flying squads under the CAQM identified 131 violations in efforts to combat air pollution in Delhi. The Enforcement Task Force meeting revealed that these violations were detected during inspections conducted across the National Capital Region. Notably, closures and other actions were proposed for several units found in violation.
During the reporting period, a total of 318 inspections were carried out, focusing on various sectors like Construction and Demolition, Industrial, and Diesel Generator sets. The enforcement activities emphasized the importance of adhering to dust abatement measures, especially in high traffic areas and urban hotspots. Recommendations for closures, sealing of DG sets, and issuance of Show Cause Notices were key outcomes of the inspections.
The enforcement efforts also led to the issuance of closure directions for 1,686 units due to non-compliance. Additionally, resumption orders were issued following verification of compliance by the concerned units. A significant number of cases have been transferred to State Pollution Control Boards for final decisions, highlighting the stringent enforcement measures in place.
Based on the cumulative enforcement status, over 26,000 units, projects, and entities have been inspected by the Flying Squads. The focus remains on ensuring strict adherence to prescribed measures and maintaining vigilance on the ground to mitigate air pollution effectively.
